today's rant: healthcare, originally 9/7/09

apparently, the big thing going on is the discussion about whether the US should incorporate a universal heathcare program.  on one side, it would be beneficial to those people who need the drugs and treatments necessary to lead the same lives as everybody else.  on the other side is the issue of how it will be paid for.  i have a suggestion.  it is only a suggestion; it is not an answer.  put some well-placed bombs in the mountainous regions of the middle east, thereby eradicating our enemy's strongholds.  then, take the money we would be spending on defense and put it into healthcare.

however, i think that this debate needs to be set aside for a couple of years.  the reason is because the country's current healthcare system is broken.  before we can pump new money into the system, we need to change how the system uses money.  i know the system is broken because i recently received a postcard from my health insurance company.  please click the photo below to read the card clearly, i promise that there is no virus:

now, i know that i have man-boobs, but i have never had, nor am i ever going to consider, a mastectomy.  the fact that my health insurance company thinks that i would consider one is disturbing.  if they can't get the single fact that i have a penis through their head (ok, that sounds funny, let me rephrase:  if they can't get the single fact through their head that i have a penis), something is wrong with the system.
